Situated midway between Florence and Sienna, this glorious and beautiful hilltop town has commanding views across Tuscan vineyards and olive groves.
 
In medieval times the town originally boasted 72 towers, of which 14 remain today. Originally situated on the pilgrims' "Via Francigena" and a major trade route, a series of plagues and local rivalries saw a rapid decline in its fortunes. Sidelined for centuries, this has happily preserved the character and unique medieval layout to this day.
