Rothenburg ob der Tauber is one of the best preserved medieval towns in Germany.  It enjoys tremendous popularity without losing its charm.  This view is of the Plönlein, considered one of the most important sites in the town.  Starting with the Walt Disney classic "Pinocchio" (1940) its architecture has frequently inspired artists, architects and designers when depicting an iconic medieval European backdrop.
