Pont du Gard, near Nîmes and Uzés in the South of France, is the most visited ancient monument in France. It is also a Unesco world heritage site. A marvel of Roman engineering it was built in the 1st century AD.
This view captures the light playing on the River Gard and some canoeists on a hot summer's afternoon.
