Kilchurn Castle is dramatically situated at the head of Loch Awe with the peak of Ben Cruachan visable in the distance. It is one of the most photographed castles in Scotland. It was built in the mid-1400's by Sir Colin Campbell, 1st Lord of Glenorchy. After being struck by lightning in 1760 it remains ruined to this day.
